Carpentry

New Construction
It's the only carpentry stuff I have at the moment! I will be putting things like rough framing for decks, walls, and roofs as well as finish carpentry such as hanging windows and doors. I have also done some cabinet and furniture making which I will write about or post photos or something.

In my opinion there are only four or five trades. Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Masonry, and Landscaping. I put the finishes such as wallpaper and paint under carpentry and finishes such as wet bed tile and plaster under masonry. Most roofing and siding applications fall under carpentry in my opinion. Electrical would include most technologies such as any type of wireless routers.  What is your opinion?

Since its founding in 1976, the non-profit Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 255,000 houses for more than one million people and families in need world wide. First published in 2002, "Habitat for Humanity How to Build a House "has helped thousands more build simple, energy-efficient homes of their own by helping guide them from foundation to roof, through all interior finishes and fixtures. Written by long-time carpenter and Habitat volunteer, Larry Haun, this extensive revision features up-to-date information on residential codes, construction methods, and materials — as well as an updated design inside and out. Haun also provides new sections on tools, siding, ventilation, and landscaping. With Clear information on everything from obtaining a site and permit to finishing touches like installing door locks and cabinets, this is the best single-volume resource for the beginning homebuilder.
Full of detailed construction drawings, this book covers cut roofs, bolted truss roofs, trussed rafter roofs, trimmed openings and ventilation. A major section deals with loft to attic room conversions, giving guidance on planning procedures, as well as dealing with structural matters and specifying conversion work. The Fourth Edition features a new chapter covering the growing number of engineered timber components available in the house building industry. The use of I beams and roof cassettes is detailed for roof and room-in-the-roof construction. The text has been fully updated to current standards and features additional detailed construction drawings. The chapters on attic conversion and construction have been expanded and a new attic conversion decision flow chart added. The book will prove invaluable to architects, house builders, roof carpenters, building control officers, trussed rafter manufacturers and students of building technology. This essential reference for pros and passionate amateurs is back with a fresh design and updated content. Written by respected builders from all over America, this extensive revision collects all the latest roof framing articles from the pages of Fine Homebuilding magazine—from cutting rafters and framing roof valleys to building dormers and working with roof trusses. The contributors offer hard-earned, job-tested advice on an impressive variety of tools, techniques, and trade secrets. Framing Roofs shows how to work with speed and precision, and, since working on a roof is often a complicated and dangerous task, safety is always at the forefront. The classic guide - revised and updated. The book that builders, architects, and students have relied on for almost 20 years has been completely updated to cover new materials, construction methods, and the latest building code revisions. The standard reference in its field, Rob Thallons Graphic Guide to Frame Construction is the ultimate visual guide to building with wood. In addition to showcasing 800 exciting new full-color illustrations and more than 50 color photographs, an improved two-column design makes the text easier to follow. Photo captions—not in previous editions—allow readers to browse through quickly. Also included for the first time: a chapter on environmentally friendly building alternatives; increased emphasis on safety; information on modern cordless tools; updated techniques, materials, and standards; energy-efficient options, from structural insulated panels to radiant floor heating; a current appendix of major manufacturers, resources, and websites; and much, much more.
